This section provides definitions of some of the key words used in the Analytics FAQs.

Dimensions | Dimensions organize data with relation to an area of interest, such as property, product, or cost center. Dimensions contain attributes |
Facts | A fact is also commonly called a measure. The term "measures" and "facts" are used interchangeably. A fact is a collection/group of measures which belong to the same measure group. e.g. Production Volume and 7 Day Average Production Volume |
Measures | Fact table consists of measures/metrics/facts of a business process |
Hierarchy | Provides ability to drill into multidimensional cube data at several levels. Hierarchies define relationships between two or more attributes of a dimension table |
