This section provides definitions of some of the key words used in the Analytics FAQs.

Dimensions

Dimensions organize data with relation to an area of interest, such as property, product, or cost center. Dimensions contain attributes

Facts

A fact is also commonly called a measure. The term "measures" and "facts" are used interchangeably. A fact is a collection/group of measures which belong to the same measure group. e.g. Production Volume and 7 Day Average Production Volume

Measures

Fact table consists of measures/metrics/facts of a business process

Hierarchy

Provides ability to drill into multidimensional cube data at several levels. Hierarchies define relationships between two or more attributes of a dimension table
