What is Appsync? How does it effect my pumper? What are the pre-requisites for Appsync to work for a Client?
What is Appsync?
Appsync is a term we use in Joyn O&G to represent the ability of the OneApp to sync/restore an app real-time whenever there is any new data available for the routes the pumper has restored on the Mobile App ( The routes the pumper is using)
How does the pumper user experience change with Appsync enabled?
With Appsync enabled, the pumper would not have to slide-sync routes to fetch the latest data.
As and when there is an update to the readings, belonging to objects in a route, the pumper who has the route restored would get an update notification ( not visible in the mobile app) which is used by the OneApp to sync/restore the specific route for which the notification is received.
This would mean, any update to the readings relevant to the pumper, when created/updated would be automatically restored to the mobile OneApp.( within a 10-15 sec period from the update). This would not need any additional actions from the pumper on the OneApp.
So, any integrated data coming from the Client’s source system or a SCADA system is made available to the pumper as quickly as possible, which allows the pumper to work with the most upto-date information.
What are the pre-requisites for Appsync to work?
The Client Account should have Appsycn enabled
The Pumper(OneApp user) should have logged into the mobile application atleast once after the the Account Appsync setting was enabled.
The Pumper should have the Route slide-sync ( manual sync) atleast once since the time the pumper has logged into the application or cleared data.
Only Routes, which have been restored atleast once manually receive the Appsync real-time updates.
Note: Just having the routes assigned to a pumper doesnt qualify for real-time updates through Appsync
The pumper should have logged into the OneApp from only one device at any point in time.
Note: Sessions in OneApp from multiple devices at same time will interfere with Appsycn functionality, and are not recommended.
