How do I attach metadata attributes to equipment or wells?
This is the general process as follows:
Follow steps 1,2,5b if you want to use asset metadata as a task type attribute
Follow steps 1,2,3,4,5a if you want to use asset metadata as a global attribute
| 1 | Global Attributes (for assets): Go to Global attributes and setup all the attributes you require as Asset entity type global attributes as string or integer. | ![]() |
| 2 | Asset Mgmt: Go to Asset Mgmt and fill out the values for each attribute on each asset. If this is a large volume, you may need W energy support for back end upload. You can also fill these out using APIs: How to add metadata to an asset via APIs | ![]() |
| 3 | Picklist Mgmt: Create a Metadata driven picklist out of each attribute that was setup as a global asset attribute. If this picklist needs to be updated in the future, the admin will have to manually refresh it by coming to this screen. *NOTE: Steps 3, 4, 5 are only required if you want to setup asset metadata to work as a global attribute | ![]() |
| 4 | Global Attributes (for tasks): Go to Global attributes and setup all the attributes you require as Task entity type global attribute as metadata picklists. *NOTE: Steps 3, 4, 5 are only required if you want to setup asset metadata to work as a global attribute | ![]() |
| 5 | (5a) Task Type Global Attribute: Map the global attributes in step 4 to the task type. *NOTE: Steps 3, 4, 5a are only required if you want to setup asset metadata to work as a global attribute (5b) Task Type Attribute: Add a task type attribute and set it up as a metadata dynamic list *NOTE: Steps 5b is only required if you want to setup asset metadata to work as a task type attribute | ![]() ![]() |
Once this setup is complete, whenever you create this task type and select a location,
the global attribute is automatically filled out based on the asset metadata if setup based on steps 1,2 3,4,5a
the task type attribute is automatically filled out based on the asset metadata if setup based on steps 1,2, 5b
